Nomadic Wine Making: An afternoon with Alex Brogan from Not Yet Named Co.

A Sunday afternoon for all of you wine enthusiasts out there!

Join Nomadic winemaker and our good friend, Alex Brogan, co-founder of Not Yet Named Wine Co, for an afternoon of enjoyment tasting wines from across the globe, complete with banging dish pairings.

Not Yet Named Wine Co. was started by Manuel Cerdeira and Alex when they were Plumpton Viticulture and Oenology students trying to find a way to fund making their own wine whilst studying at University. They never imagined the that it would turn into a community of wine-loving people; some of the members are studying for WSET qualifications, some have worked in the trade for years, some are winemakers themselves although most are just casual wine-drinkers who want the opportunity to drink a wine that they have helped to create.

The concept of the Not Yet Named Wine Co. is to sell wine before it is made (similar to en-primeur) and in return customers receive those bottles once they are ready in the UK. More intriguingly members get a vote on how they make the wine. Every time a winemaking decision is required, they are provided with (only good!) options to their members that affects the style, but not the quality, of the wine, along with all the advantages, disadvantages, risks, impact on flavour, etc.

For example, when choosing where to mature the wine, members can choose between a cleaner and fresher style aged in stainless steel or a more toasted and rounded wine from barrel aging. Each option is put to a vote and the majority wins! Members can also vote on some fun things, like the name of the wine (hence Not Yet Named Wine Co) and the label design etc.

This is an amazing opportunity to meet Alex, taste through some of his wines made in diverse places such as South Africa, Portugal, UK and California and have the chance to learn more about his innovative project and the inspiration behind the wines.

Tickets include four pours and four dishes and a dessert. There will be extra wines available of course to buy on the day!
