10 Years in wine

Working with small producers and merchants

We have always worked with small wine estates, who produce wine in line with sustainable practices both in the vineyards and wineries. Small production wine makers-considerate and caring for the land, often biodynamic with minimum intervention practice.

Informal service and advice

Having enjoyed our experiences in wine throughout Europe we were adamant to build a business that offered an informal style of service similar to the Bodegas and Vinotecas of Spain, Italy and Portugal.

Having worked in many hotels and restaurants over the years, it was our objective to not have a lengthy wine list, instead focusing on a more unusual selection, selling small parcels of wine through an ever-changing, small listing and via a daily specials board.

We love to take advantage of offers and recommendations from specialist wine merchants we work with. We have developed longstanding business contacts over our 10 year tenure at Fourth and Church, with many wonderful relationships stemming, built throughout our many years within our hospitality careers.

Interesting wines, something for all budgets

We are always looking for opportunities to keep ahead of the curve within the world of wine, new exciting options for our customers which they have come to expect.

The team spend many hours in tastings , hosting tastings and travelling. We try to anticipate what's coming next, what's of interest and what's exciting.

Our areas of interest are:

  • Sherry

  • Building a community within our neighbourhood

  • Working with some amazing people within the wine community

  • The growth of English wine estates

  • The growth of interest in wine generally.

The challenges over the 10 years we have been open

It has been an interesting journey navigating the twists and turns of wine trends and interests, economic downturns, pandemics and of course Brexit.

We are a small business, so have always managed to navigate challenges accordingly and more importantly, quickly!

The challenges over the last year or so have been our rising costs and a downturn in the economy, we have therefore looked at offering more value at different price points, carafe and glass sales as opposed to bottles, wine flights and tasting events that are put together at a more attractive price point.

The next 10 years

We have a great team in situ at the moment, with amazing energy and enthusiasm.

Moving forward with a fresh approach to our events and offerings building on our successes.

We are excited about the developments in the wine world and will continue with expanding our huge selection of wines from the wider Jerez area, Jura, Savoie and regional Italy.

Our love of vermouth and classic cocktails with our twist.
